Does Kind Reads offer shipping options?

We currently ship within Canada only, but have plans to expand to International destinations in the future. Stay tuned for more details.

How long does it take for my order to ship?

Due to COVID-19, we have a limited number of people who volunteer for a limited number of days each week to keep us running. Currently, we have volunteers fulfilling orders at our distribution center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. So, after you place your order it may take anywhere between one and four days to get fulfilled and be ready to ship or pick-up. 

You will receive an email notifying you when your order has shipped, as well as when it is ready for pick-up.

How long does it take for my shipped order to arrive?

This depends on where in Canada you are located, and whether you select expedited parcel (2-3 business days) or expresspost (1-2 business day) as your preferred shipping service. 

Does Kind Reads offer free shipping? 

Yes, as of November 8th 2021 orders that total over $75 CAD will be eligible for free shipping in Canada. 

How much does shipping cost?

Our shipping costs are automatically calculated by Canada Post based on the customer's address and the package weight. Here are some sample estimates:

1-2kg package -  $10 (Ottawa), $11 (Toronto), $16 (Vancouver)

How do I track my order?

You will receive an e-mail or text with your order confirmation. If you have selected shipping as your delivery method, you will receive a Canada Post tracking number that allows you to track your package. 

Does Kind Reads offer curbside pick-up? 

Yes! We offer free curbside pick-up for our customers located in Ottawa, Canada. Pick-up is available Monday through Friday from 10:30AM-1:30PM, and Saturdays from 10:30AM-1:00PM.

Before coming call 613-580-2424 x27875 to confirm we're open. On arrival, DO NOT enter the building. Call us again & we'll bring out your order. 

What neighborhood is your Ottawa pick-up location at? 

At the moment we only offer curbside pick-up at our 100 Tallwood location in the Nepean area of Ottawa, Ontario. 

How does curbside pick-up work? 

Always wait for a notification from us before coming to pick up your order. You will receive a text message and/or e-mail with instructions once your order is ready!

Due to COVID-19 we ask all members of the public to refrain from entering the building. Call us and a volunteer will bring the order outside for you! 

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards including VISA, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover Card. We also accept PayPal.

What is your return policy?

All sales at KindReads are final.

If you have received damaged, defective, or incorrectly shipped merchandise please contact us at ecommerce@fopla-aabpo.ca so we can help you resolve your issue.

How do I report a problem with the website or my order? 

Please contact us at ecommerce@fopla-aabpo.ca to report any issues you encounter with our website or while placing an order.

What conditions are your books in?

All our books are in good condition or better. Many of our books are in excellent or like new condition.

How do you source your books? 

KindReads is operated by the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association (FOPLA), which receives donations of gently used books and re-sells them to benefit the Ottawa Public Library.

All books at KindReads have been hand curated by our dedicated volunteers to create the best possible selection for our customers and every purchase benefits the Ottawa Public Library. For more information on how FOPLA supports the Ottawa Public Library click here.

Can I donate books?

Yes! If you are in the greater Ottawa area, you can bring your donations to us. Due to COVID-19, we currently only accept a limited number of donations every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Can I change or cancel my order?

If we haven't fulfilled your order yet, we may be able to help you modify or cancel your order. Please contact us right away ecommerce@fopla-aabpo.ca if you wish to do so. We are unable to make any changes to your order after it has shipped.
